Arm Lift Surgery, or Brachioplasty,  is an extremely effective way for both men and women to tighten up their arms.  The lift this procedure can provide is also beneficial.  Brachioplasty surgery can result in more youthful, significantly slender, and firmer arms. Having Armlift surgery is particularly beneficial to patients who have had significant weightloss after gastric bypass surgery or other bariatric surgery.  It can also help with a loss of skin elasticity in an older patient.

In his time as a Los Angeles Plastic Surgeon, Dr. Kim has seen that his patients are usually thrilled at the results, claiming to have had their "wings" removed.  The beneficial aesthetic results give them greater freedom to wear normal clothing again.  It also helps them to participate in any number of physical activities. As an OC Plastic Surgeon, Dr. Kim sees many Orange County patients who have excessive skin in their upper arms. The Armlift, or brachioplasty surgery procedure, generally takes about two or three hours to complete.  The procedure is performed on an outpatient basis in the Orange County, California Surgical Suites of Dr. Kim. The arm lift procedure, also known as brachioplasty, is  performed under a general anesthesia for the patient. To remove the unwanted skin, Dr. Kim makes an incision that starts near the elbow and runs into the armpit. The incision is specifically made in the most inconspicuous location, usually along the inner arm, toward the back.  Some scarring, however, will be visible as it's impossible to completely hide. Please be sure to note that any patient considering an armlift at our Beverly Hills surgical suites has to weigh the benefit versus the negative aspects.  The main benefit is  having the loose skin removed.  This must be weighed against the drawback of a permanent scar. There is no scar-less arm lift surgery, unfortunately.  Most commonly, a patient who chooses to have an armlift is one who has had significant weight loss and has on their arms what is often referred to as "bat wings". Patients with just a little bit of a sag often find that the scarring deters them from having the armlift surgery.
